Are you ready for Shamrocks and Shenanigans? St. Patty’s Day is one of those almost forgotten holidays just sitting there sandwiched between Valentine’s Day chocolates and Easter Egg hunts.
And if I am being honest, I don’t really remember St. Patrick’s Day as a child, it was one of those holidays that just sorta came and went. Sure, Mom always made sure we were dressed in green so the mean kids at school wouldn’t pinch us. But that was about the extent of it.
Then came the good ol’ college days, and I am quite confident I had some St. Patty’s Day fun. In fact, I went to a college that had one of the largest St. Patty’s Day celebrations in the nation. Green Beer Day at Miami University has definitely made a name for itself nationally. But let’s just be real, I don’t really remember much of them either, mostly because I had one too many green beers.
St. Patty’s Day Shenanigans:
But if you ask me, St. Patty’s Day has the makings for some serious enjoyment. Leprechauns, pots of gold, rainbows and an excuse to celebrate? I mean doesn’t this combination just scream childhood fun?
So in an effort to make the often neglected holiday a little more special around here, I planned a little Mommy Daughter date for our St. Patty’s Day shenanigans!
I just have to tell you we had more fun than I even imagined.
And that my friends is what is so wonderful about celebrations. Not every event has to be a show stopper or a crowd pleaser. Even when you are planning small intimate family celebrations you can really kick things up a notch and create magical moments for the kiddos and meaningful memories for everyone involved!
With minimal plans, I set out to create a little Mommy Daughter day date. And, wow… just look how incredible everything came together.
So whether you are planning an epic St. Patty’s Day bash or just an intimate family celebration at home. I hope you will find some fun inspiration here, plus these free St. Patrick’s Day Printables are sure to make it a Shamrockin’ Good Time!

OVER THE TOP SHAMROCK SHAKES:
The highlight of our little day date was this amazing over the top shamrock shake featuring mint chocolate chip ice cream and a chocolate drizzle. It was served in a large glass with a St. Patrick’s Day sprinkle coated rim and piled high with whipped cream. Chocolate covered marshmallows on a stick, a chocolate covered oreo and a chocolate shamrock adorned the shamrock shake to really take it over the top.
We served it up large with 2 fun straws and these cute drink flags so we could share smiles between sips. But the addition of Bailys Irish Cream makes for the perfect Boozy Shamrock Shake if you won’t be sharing yours with your kiddo(s). You can grab the recipe here.
